Why We Fly...
"When I contemplate my reasons for becoming a
pilot, they all seem to center on freedom and adventure. Also, I love
challenges and I love learning, and we sure get plenty of both in the
world of aviation! Flying has been the richest source of self-satisfaction
of anything I have ever done just for me. The sky has been my arena for
confronting and slaying many personal dragons that had held me back and
deprived me of the freedom I so cherish. I don't know who I would be if I
had not decided to be a pilot, but I am fairly certain I would not be the
woman I am today."
- Nancy "There's nothing like the satisfaction of a well-flown instrument approach... Nothing like the feeling when the wheels leave the runway and the airplane flies away... Nothing like sharing a little airplane with another pilot and giggling when you discover that you both spend your airline flights looking out the window for airports... There's nothing sexier than the smell of jet fuel, or the whine of a high-bypass turbofan engine... Nothing as thrilling as seeing the approach and runway lights... Aviation has so richly blessed my life - and like Nancy, I can't imagine who I would be without it." - Rene |
